Topic: Bock the South 2012 - May 4th - 6th

Yes- the usa don't seem to have great events yet. Here in Germany we have a couple weekly regular meets everywhere around germany (especially north and west) with 5 up to 20 people on good days. But having bigger events planned they are not visited that much more. the biggest would be "bouncecamp" with 25-40 people.

I agree regarding the length of the drive being hard to justify.  Capital Bocking USA started out struggling this way, but past few years we have had at least 10 people come.  Unfortunately the marketing and publicity is a major factor. 

The USA struggles in the meetup department compared to European countries because we are geographically so far from one another.

So Bock the South was basically myself for a couple hours. Then Doug from town showed up for a couple hours, and then newbie nicholas from town showed up to learn to walk.


I'm disappointed that no one else from out of town came and ended up canceling the second day of Bock the South. Given this turn out and the sheer length of drive it took. I do not know if I'll be hosting Bock the South 2013.


But at the least we three had fun.

Not sure how crowds will be, but it'll probably be comparable to the art sale thing they had going on last year.

Hopefully there will be just as many people and not all the tents so we can jump on all the sweet ledges.

We're in luck this year. The Tall Ship Challenge is happening at Savannah. So when we bock down by River Street the place with the bridges we'll have a bunch of sailboats in our backdrop.

Not sure how crowds will be, but it'll probably be comparable to the art sale thing they had going on last year.

Alright everyone sorry for taking so long yet again to post but theres been another change of plans. I posted this in our facebook group, but I'll repost it here.

Hey everyone just a quick update on Bock the South 2012.

We're planning on hosting it in Savannah, GA on the first weekend of May ask off work, school, and other life events for the best jumping fun down south.

For those without a calendar handy that's the 4th, 5th, and 6th. The 4th is a friday and will just be an initial meet up/dinner in the evening with bocking possible for early arrivals. The main events will be on Saturday, and Sunday.

Don't forget when requesting your dates off to attend to plan for travel time to get there!

I know originally I said to expect to have this event during the last weekend of april. But looking at Savannahs event calendar it would clash with SCADS sidewalk art festival in forsyth park. Meaning we'd have no where to bock at that park. So we're going back to the same weekend as last year and holding it in May. I hope to see everyone out there again, and keep an eye out for the official event invites coming soon.

Sorry for not getting back with you sooner. My internet is not really reliable. I tether from my phone and the sprint network is awful around here.

But I'm pretty much decided on the last weekend of April.

I meant to have this announced a couple weeks ago officially but my plans kept changing due to struggling to get work off. (another co-worker was getting time off in april as well.)

I have on more thing to do to make the official go ahead. But everyone should plan on the last Friday-through Sunday of April.
