  • I'm a Devout Atheist but the doesn't not mean I can or should be disrespectful to others. Most church allow people in to look around and maybe donate some money.
The "church" I entered was Lincoln Cathedral so I wasn't in a small church. I pointed out the church has a example of where if you show respect you could go and they where happy to allow me in.

Has for the volume control, that easy to do! Don't stamp your foot down or move to quickly

  • Respect where you are. I've been allowed in a church and walked/bocked slowly around keeping the noise of my hoofs down.

Oh come on DK, where is the respect in entering a church on bocks? I mean what possible motive could you have for doing that? Going into a store to buy a drink or ice-cream I can understand but a church... give me a break!

What! You have invented a volume control now?  ;) ;)

After 2 years of Kangoo Jumps I decided to add another 30 cm to my height. One of the best decisions I've ever made!

  • It doesn't cost you to be polite and if you think you may wish to enter a building like a shopping center it maybe a idea to contact them via the internet. If they have a website they my have a contact page or a email address.
Just send a sort message explaining what power-bocking is, add a link maybe if your often near them make in personal by saying " You may have seen me".
Explain you know the limits of your stilts so would not enter or do anything if you didn't think if safe by saying that they'd have to prove you wrong about what you can or can not do on stilts?

If you don't get a reply, give them a week or two post another email. Should they say no you could always ask what their reasons are and if there is something that could be do. Should they be happy it would be an idea to go inside as so as possible even if it's just to see how safe it is. If they have security guards it maybe worth having a copy of the reply with you should they challenge you.

I did just that this weekend and I happened to go inside carrying my stilts when a man rushed over and said he didn't mind me wearing them. He was the owner and I thanked him and even showed him my stilts, later that day I bocked inside used the lift and stood on the balcony to look at the view.

  • As a rule I don't enter shops/buildings on my stilt but I have a couple of times.
These are the rules I go by are :-

    1) Do I need to wear my stilts in the shop
    2) Have they stopped me before
    3) Is the shops busy ?
    4) Will I find walking around easy without knocking into things (No clutter).
    5) Are the staff smiling at me (a good sign)

Remember that when you have been allowed it to a building the key word is respect.
Respect any rules they may ask, like don't bounce or running.
Respect others don't push in or block their way.
Respect where you are. I've been allowed in a church and walked/bocked slowly around keeping the noise of my hoofs down.

If you are told that you cannot enter or asked to leave don't blow your top just and ask nicely for their reasons. Maybe once you've chatted they'll may feel happier to let you enter, but if not bock away?

It is far easer to get banned than it is  to be allowed somewhere.
If you get banned then WE ALL GET BANNED so please mind your behaviour . Keep Bocking friendly.

  • I'm also an inline skater so I know the "friendly" places... CVS will usually, (but sometimes not) let me in with skates or stilts.  The main thing is to be nice and balanced and not scare anyone.  Also what you can do is go straight for what you came in to buy, like a soda, and then open it and start drinking it while in the store.  Usually if you do that they will at least let you buy it. ;)

I've been into stores like coffee or ice cream shops on both skates and my power stilts without getting in trouble.

  • yea, ive also found that people and stores hate if if u even walk close to their cars.  i was walking in a parking lot at best buy, and the manager came out and told me to leave the property.  he was pretty mad about it too.

  • i go on everyones lots, if  i get hurt thats mybad

It's true, but I personally work in retail. I've had to run off skaters off our lots before. Not because they were in the way, they were actually in a part of the lot no one ever parks in. But just because there was a potential for them suing us.

If it wasn't for that, my managers would of allowed them.

But then again I work for a big corporation, if say you went to a small business and possibly asked I wouldn't see an issue with it.

  • yea, suing is a really big problem with bocks.  if u get hurt on their property they think u might su them, so they wont let u go on or in their store.  i just stay away from crowded places and anywhere with lots of cars :)

  • guys common, dont go acting disabled just so u can get in a shop.  have some respect for the people that really r.  i have an idea, why dont u take ur bocks off wen u go in a store :)

I'm going to agree with this. I've never actually wore my bocks into a store. In fact I don't go near store parking lots on mine. I stay away from anywhere that may be afraid of me suing them if I hurt myself on their property. Which sadly is just about everywhere these days.

That only works though if you plan on walking normally. We couldn't jump!

    Unless....

We claimed we had a fear of gravity grabbing a hold of us and the earth swallowing us up.

  • Best thing to try is to go in, get what you need, pay and get out. This place in boston lets me an SPAD into it as long as we do just that. Best we can really do, try and if they say get out then do so.
